Software - Operating System- Chapter 5
Important Note
Early computers were not user friendly. The OS of the first PC's in the 80's was MSDOS. It was a command-line interface.
The user had to know the name of the command in order to execute it. Today's interface is a graphical-user interface -
point and click. Because of the development of the GUI, computers became easy to use. A person did not have to be a computer
expert in order to use it. To support a GUI, the computer must have a very fast CPU and a large RAM. It was the introduction
of large-scale integrated circuits that allowed CPU's
to become fast and cheap and memory to become cheap enough to support the GUI.
