Autonomous Cars
Ethical Decision: How safe must they be before they ar ready to move people on
highways and city streets?
Google, Audi, Tesla, Mercedes Benze, etc.
are testing autonomous cars in a small number
of cities with the goal of demonstrating they are safer than human drivers
and to
determine what level of risk is acceptable to government regulators and the
public.
- How many fatalities/year are human errors responsible for?
- How could autonomous vehicles reduce that number?
- Explain how the testing is being done.
- Research and discuss accidents, injuries, and deaths that have occurred
in autonomous cars. Who was at fault?
- Discuss your opinion: (
You must have substantial discussion or no credit)
- Should autonomous cars be allowed?
- Should the regulation be federal, state, or local governments and why?
- What criteria should be established before allowing autonomous cards?
- Other relavent thoughts?
